Emergency Planning Committee is to provide
a basis for each community to develop and
tailor a chemical emergency program to best
suit its individual needs and to provide the
public with the right-to-know information on
hazardous materials in their community."
Section 324 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), also known as the
SARA Title III (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986, PL99-499), requires public
notice at least once annually informing the public of the means to access information about extremely
hazardous substances that are manufactured, stored, and used within their community. Follow-up
emergency notices may subsequently be issued.

Accordingly, information concerning Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meetings, SARA
Title III hazardous material planning which is included in our Sumner County Emergency Operations
Response Plan, Material Safety Datasheets (MSDS) hazardous chemical inventory forms listing
extremely hazardous substances manufactured, stored, or used within Sumner County can be
obtained during normal business hours by contacting Sumner County Emergency Management at
(620) 326-7376.

meets four times each year.

Meetings are held in the
Sumner County Emergency
Management office at 6:30pm
on the last Tuesday of
February, April, September
and November.
The Sumner County LEPC has
recently adopted new By-Laws
that directs the Committee with
business meetings,
reporting of hazardous
materials spills, etc.
